Whimsical/retro tree

Just got back from Missouri yesterday, it's kind of lonely here without my mom.... Anyway, today I have just been getting back into the swing of my daily routines- school, and the other on-goings of my days. Between school and play, I am going to try and continue squeezing in some artworks and blogging!

Tonight I started a new oil painting, on a 24x48 in canvas. My vision is a somewhat a whimsical/ retro styled tree, and one of my favorite quotes- "If you aren't living on the edge, then you are just taking up space." Here is what I have completed so far!!

I was lucky enough to add some bulk to my paper stock! All papers at hobby lobby http://www.hobbylobby.com were on sale! four for $1.00 (big sheets) or six for $1.00 (small sheets) I got some great paper- I'm excited to create with them!

My new project I want to start working on are Easter Eggs!! I want to make bright colorful eggs to celebrate the holiday! These cute little eggs are three for $1.00 at Hobby Lobby

Altered Coupon Box

This is one of my mothers birthday presents.. she is a coupon junkie! She somehow mastered the art of spending virtually nothing and getting a ton! I made this for her to store her coupons beautifully in. Her talent is more impressive than words can describe! Check her blog out http://www.justcallmejune.blogspot.com/ she gives details on just how to do it!

This was a fairly easy project.....
SUPPLIES: plain black photo box, scrapbook paper, and other medias (ribbon, chipboard letter, sliding tiles, fake flowers, vintage earing for flower middle)
WHAT WAS DONE: I measured and paper mached the paper on the box using Modge Podge, then glued 3 different ribbons- the perimeter of the box with brown ribbon (without lid on) then around the edge of the lid first with burgandy ribbon, and then sheer black polka dot ribbon overlapping. Across the top of the lid I glued brown ribbon and strung the letter tiles to spell "coupons." Next I glued the burgandy chipboard letters to spell out her name, and finally attached the flower and earing accent. *Don't forget to do the inside!

This week...

The past week i have been a little under the weather, and to make time pass have been working on a few creations. A couple of altered party hats, altered pictures, even a new oil painting!!! I will get pictures up tomorrow!

Besides creating, I have been clocking some hours blog hopping, trying to find some new inspiration. I have found some beautiful blogs, and I hope mine will do what others blogs have done for me-Inspire, and leave them awe-struck.

I have been meaning to do this for some time, One of the many things I love to do, is collect little vintage treasures. Beautiful pieces of the past that can be the cherry on top to a work of art... Just pulling ideas from their colors, or their shapes, or encorporating them somehow.. it's rewarding. I wanted to post a glimpse of some of my favorites--my vintage clip on earing collection. (These little earrings bring me so much joy, they are beautiful, and wonderful statements of art)

Just some art..

So.. I said I would get some pictures up!! These artworks are just some
done for fun, unfortunatley most of my works are stored in my cousins
family room- due to a lack of space at my grandmas! I plan on getting those
up soon, because those are my favorite!

This is a photo holder I made for only seventeen dollars!

This is an oil painting I painted for my grandma, I created texture with gel medium and a pallette knife

I love, love, love, quotes... so I love encorporating them in my artworks. This is a mixed media acrylic painting. I built and textured the background up, and used magazene clippings.

This is a painting for my dad, it is actually an old car on my families land, inspired by a photograph.

I call this one Abstract and Old Lace. Like most of my paintings, I built up the background, and used warm colors- My favorite combination!! I encorporated old vintage lace, and mirror mosaic tiles.

This is an oil painting set, I love painting contemporary flowers, I think they are beutiful. I also textured these with gel medium.

I altered this tiny dress form, with paper scraps, old text from a vintage book, wire, old pearls.. and a few other trinkets

I got this idea from one of my favorite altered art artists-Sally Jean Alexander.. I made this altered party hat from gel medium, paints, pastels, old text, glitter, fabric, and a fake flower

I want to begin to sell.. afterall that is my goal in life, to become successful doing what I love, why not start early? =]
So.. starting tomorrow, my art wll be all over this blog!
