My Art Journal

I have a brain that is always on the go. I bounce from one thing to another inside my head, and often forget the things I want to remember. I will see magazine clippings that inspire me, or hear lyrics to a song, or even read about a recipe that is to die for, and they will all be lost inside the clutter in my head. As a result of my scattered brain, I finally made myself a solution! An Art Journal! This little book will soon be filled with my thoughts, inspiring quotes and pictures, and pretty much anything that inspires me or leaves me in awe.

If you can relate to the struggle of the crafty brain, you would benefit from your own journal!
Here is what I did:
-Take a spiral notebook
-Cover it in decorative papers, paint, etc, whatever you want your background to be
-I used modpodge and scrapbook paper and made a quilt like design
-I then added embellishments. Go crazy! This is a representation of your brain!!! On my own, I glued on mirror tiles, ribbons, chipboard, pearls, and a tad bit of glitter!
-Repeat steps on back cover if desired

From there, you can release your creative juices on paper. If it moves you put it in!!! If a random quote pops up in your head, write it down!!! Do not let anything that moves you go to waste! I will keep updating as I create the inside!

Altered Art Projects

Some of these have already been seen in some of my previous posts and some are new. These pieces are just little things that I have made using mixed media.

"Dressforms"

I love these little ladies!!!! I buy them at Michaels, and let my imagination run wild!!! The possibilities are endless!

"Pen Cup"
I bought the cup from Michaels, then sealed decorative paper around the perimeter with mod podge, I then hot glued ribbons, letters, mirror tiles, little clips to clip reminders to, etc!

"Party Hats"
I LOVE to make party hats!! These two are nothing specific, just cute!!! I also buy the cones at Michaels, then I painted them, added paper scraps, glitter, flowers, etc. These are really fun to make for birthdays and special occasions as gifts. My favorite that I have done was one for my sisters graduation!

Saying good bye

It is always a bittersweet thing to pass my paintings on, from me, to someone who appreciates and wishes to hang my art! It is rewarding to know that they think the work that comes from my mind is beautiful, but it is also a little sad to see something I put my heart into go!

So, to the point, I say goodbye to the painting I call, April Showers!

A Trip To The Dallas Museum of Art

I spent my Saturday afternoon browsing through all of the incredible art works in the Dallas Museum of Art. I must admit being that it was my first time, that I was very inspired and even awed by various pieces. I stood in the presence of the greats- there were the classics; Monet's, Van Gough's, Rembrandts, Picasso's. As well as pieces by the masters of pop art; Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, and Rauschenburg.

Everything was absolutley incredible, though most of the works were not my personal style, they were brilliant and beautiful. It was a rewarding experience to stand 2 inches away from some of the most famous artists from all over the world, works, and take in every detail, and imagine the very day they were painted.

Here is a collage I put together of some of the famous master pieces!
